Listing Standards
Effective Date: August 4, 2026
1. Purpose
Tidy NY City is intended to help customers find legitimate independent cleaning and property-service providers.
These standards are designed to promote accurate listings, useful information, professional conduct, customer safety, and fair participation.

- Business description
- Services offered
- Service area
- Pricing information
- Availability
- Website and social-media links
- Licensing, insurance, certification, or credential information
- Review links
- Images, logos, and photographs
Providers must promptly correct information that becomes inaccurate, incomplete, expired, or misleading.
3. Business Names and Identity
A listing must represent the actual provider or business submitting it.
Providers may not:
- Impersonate another person or business
- Use a business name they are not authorized to use
- Create duplicate listings intended to manipulate visibility
- Misrepresent ownership, affiliation, certification, or experience
- Claim to be part of Tidy NY City
- Suggest that Tidy NY City employs, endorses, guarantees, or certifies them unless expressly authorized
4. Services Offered
Providers may list only services they are qualified, equipped, insured, licensed, and legally permitted to perform.
Service descriptions must be reasonably specific and must not exaggerate capabilities, availability, results, or experience.
5. Licensing, Insurance, and Credentials
Any claim involving licensing, bonding, insurance, certification, training, background checks, professional membership, or similar credentials must be accurate and current.
Providers must not display expired, revoked, suspended, borrowed, altered, or misleading credentials.
Tidy NY City may request documentation and may remove or restrict credential claims that cannot be reasonably verified.
6. Pricing and Fees
Pricing information must be stated clearly and honestly.
Providers must not:
- Advertise a price they do not reasonably intend to honor
- Hide required fees
- Use deceptive “starting at” prices
- Misrepresent estimates as guaranteed final prices
- Claim a discount that is not genuine
- Use false urgency or fabricated scarcity
When final pricing depends on property size, condition, materials, travel, labor, complexity, or other variables, the listing or response should make that clear.
7. Service Area
Providers must accurately identify the ZIP codes, neighborhoods, boroughs, cities, counties, or distance ranges they actually serve.
Providers should not claim broad service coverage that they cannot reasonably support.
8. Availability
Availability information should reflect the provider’s normal operating schedule and current capacity.
Providers must not claim twenty-four-hour, same-day, emergency, weekend, or immediate availability unless they can reasonably provide it.
9. Images and Logos
Providers may submit only images and logos they own or are authorized to use.
Images must not:
- Misrepresent the provider’s work
- Show another business’s logo without permission
- Contain unlawful, obscene, hateful, threatening, or discriminatory material
- Expose private customer information
- Show people without appropriate permission where permission is required
- Include false awards, badges, credentials, or endorsements
- Contain misleading before-and-after comparisons
Stock images should not be presented as photographs of the provider’s actual work.

Provider website and social-media links must lead to pages controlled by or legitimately associated with the provider.
Links may not lead to:
- Malware or unsafe downloads
- Fraudulent or deceptive pages
- Unrelated advertising pages
- Illegal content
- Pages impersonating another business
- Pages designed primarily to collect information deceptively
11. Reviews and Reputation Links
Providers may submit approved links to third-party review platforms.
Review links must lead to the provider’s actual profile or review page and must not misrepresent another provider’s reputation.
Providers may not:
- Submit fabricated review pages
- Link to reviews belonging to another business
- Manipulate review links to create a misleading impression
- Offer incentives for dishonest reviews
- Threaten or pressure customers regarding reviews
Tidy NY City does not guarantee the accuracy or authenticity of reviews hosted by third parties.
12. Search Keywords
Providers may submit keywords, phrases, categories, synonyms, and related terms to improve internal search matching.
Keywords must accurately relate to the provider’s services, experience, service area, or qualifications.
Providers may not use keywords to:
- Misrepresent services
- Impersonate competitors
- Claim unrelated specialties
- Manipulate search results
- Use deceptive geographic terms
- Include unlawful, abusive, or misleading language
Submitted keywords may be reviewed, edited, rejected, or used internally without being publicly displayed.

Providers must not:
- Send spam or unrelated solicitations

Listings, responses, and communications may not unlawfully discriminate based on a protected characteristic.
16. Customer Privacy
Providers may use customer information only for legitimate purposes related to the customer’s request.
Providers must not:
- Sell customer information
- Share customer information without a legitimate reason
- Add customers to unrelated marketing lists without permission

17. Safety and Professional Conduct
Providers are expected to communicate professionally and take reasonable precautions when entering homes, businesses, buildings, and other properties.
Providers are responsible for their personnel, subcontractors, tools, materials, vehicles, conduct, and safety practices.
18. Listing Review
Tidy NY City may review submitted information before or after publication.
Review may include checking completeness, formatting, consistency, payment status, links, images, credentials, complaints, or other relevant information.
Review does not mean that Tidy NY City guarantees the provider or independently verifies every statement.
19. Corrections and Additional Information
Tidy NY City may request corrections, clarification, documentation, or removal of content before approving or continuing a listing.
Failure to respond may delay approval or result in rejection, suspension, or removal.

Suspected false information, unlawful activity, unsafe conduct, intellectual-property violations, or other listing concerns may be reported through the Report a Listing page.
